Growing For Community is a not-for-profit Plant and Nursery hosted by Westgate Baptist Church in partnership with the Maribyrnong City Council and The Mercy Foundation. 

The Plant and Nursery, which had its launch day on Saturday, 4 June, provides a space for the community to come and learn about cooking, composting, planting, and waste reduction in their neighbourhood. 

The initiative aims to nurture the local community’s health and well-being. Members from the Westgate Baptist Community Church all joined together to create a wonderful welcoming atmosphere, which included cultural displays from the Karen community including a performance from the local Karen choir. 

There were also lots of plants, Cultiv.Ate burgers and rescued food jams and pickles for sale with leftovers sold at church the next day if anyone missed out!
