For as long as anyone at Brunswick Baptist can remember, nine bollards have stood […]

  • BUV 2020 Wrap up

The BUV Support Hub team have loved serving you and your churches through this very different and disrupted year.

We have been amazed at the way churches and leaders have adapted to the challenges posed throughout the year and risen up in ways none of us could ever have imagined. To you all we say WELL DONE!
The BUV Support Hub team hope we have been a source of encouragement as you have, in turn, served your members, congregations and communities.

  • Corryong Baptist bringing community together

In a year like no other, Corryong Baptist Church, in the bushfire affected region, has hosted some significant events, thanks to the generosity of BUV congregations, that have brought the community together in a wonderful way.  The events have helped set a platform for the ongoing healing and recovery, with a great response from the town.

  • EMERGE Apprenticeship Pathway Celebration

The EMERGE 2020 cohort and their coaches celebrated the year at the IBIS Glen Waverley on December 7th with

    • a time of sharing insights and reflections about growing as missional leaders
    • a delicious two course lunch
    • Daniel Bullock inspiring participants and coaches about, ‘What keeps us growing as leaders!’

His insights included being humble, staying close to God, being yourself, keep dreaming. There were heaps more!

  • Reflections on the Parish Collective Learning Community

There are several reasons why I decided to join the Parish Collective.  I was attracted to the emphasis on serving the neighbourhood and discovering the ways in which God is at work.  I was attracted to the claims about the learning environment which seemed to address the difficulty of returning from an inspiring conference only to struggle to apply the new learning in my own context.  I was also attracted to the offer of community with other people in the course over the three main learning blocks.  In response to the BUV Support Hub’s emphasis on flourishing churches during 2020, I was keen to tap into resources that could help me pastor a flourishing church.

  • Worship in the park at Point Cook

With the easing of COVID-19 restrictions over the past month, it’s been encouraging to hear various stories of how our BUV churches are re-opening for in-person worship gatherings and ways they are managing the existing restrictions. One such church is Point Cook Community Baptist Church situated in the outer west of Melbourne. The church describes itself as a small informal bunch of people with a huge heart, committed to loving each other and those around them. Pastor David van Wynen recently shared where they are up to with their re-opening.

  • Faith in a Hot Spot

Two Karen youth from Werribee Karen Baptist Church share their experience of living through months of lockdown in Wyndham, which, at the height of the Victorian COVID-19 second wave, had the highest number of COVID-19 infections in Australia. Wyndham is home to several thousand Karen, and the community has been significantly affected by COVID-19.
